Letter to HS Families
Good morning, students and families of Unity High,
I hope that you have enjoyed a very complete summer filled with quality time and perhaps some adventure!
I am writing to provide you with an important update as we prepare for an extremely successful school year. We are shifting our first day of high school from September 5th to Friday, September 7th. As you know, we are moving our high school site from Brownsville to Williamsburg, at 584 Driggs Avenue, for this coming year and are excited to have our very own state-of-the-art home. While we have accomplished the impossible in securing and renovating a building in less than two months, we need an additional two days to adequately prepare the building and ensure a strong start to the school year.
We are adjusting our school calendar to make up those two school days so that learning time will not be impacted. Specifically, we will have school on September 28, 2018, and March 15, 2019, which originally were staff-only days on our calendar. I am including a modified calendar which reflects this change. Please dispose of earlier versions of our calendar and refer to this version of your calendar moving forward.
Please contact Ms. Jaquez, Unity High’s Manager of Operations, with questions regarding the first day of school. She can be reached at (781) 606-0734. We look forward to welcoming students into our new home on September 7th – high school doors open at 7:45 am! All students are expected to be dressed for success according to our revised dress code, including an official Unity top, on the first day of school.
In unity,
Joshua M. Beauregard
Head of School & Co-founder
Unity Preparatory Charter School of Brooklyn
A special note to our high school families with children who attend our middle school: the first day for students at our middle school (grades 6-8) has not changed – middle school students should report to school at 432 Monroe Street on Wednesday, September 7th – middle school doors open at 7:05 am.
