HS Boys Basketball (Team V)
Assistant Varsity Boys Basketball Coach
Athletics have played a monumental role in Josh’s life and growth as a person and leader since he was a young child.
Basketball was his first love. He played on school teams and AAU teams growing up. In high school, he played under his grandfather who was the head coach of his school’s varsity team. In his junior and senior years of high school, Josh’s teams went to state finals in back-to-back years. Josh played college basketball at Vassar College. He was the starting point guard for all four years. Josh holds the team’s all-time records for assists and games played.
Throughout his life, Josh has coached youth teams, including local YMCA teams, and basketball camp and summer league teams. He served as the Dalton School’s JV and Varsity basketball coach from 2002 to 2006.
In addition to basketball, Josh is an avid runner and triathlete. He ran cross-country in high school and served as co-captain of his school’s varsity team. As an adult, he has completed multiple marathons as well as an Ironman in 2011. Josh also became active in kickboxing after graduating from college. He competed as an amateur kickboxer from 2002 to 2007 with a record of 10-0. During this time, he held a U.S. amateur title with the International Kickboxing Federation.
Josh is excited to engage with Unity’s student-athletes and fellow coaches on the basketball court and beyond.
Varsity Boys Basketball Coach
I’m Coach Champ, I have been coaching at Unity Prep for 7 years now. While at Unity I have lead the Highschool basketball team to the playoffs every year. My first year of coaching at Unity I lead the JV basketball team to the Semi-final round of the playoffs, the very next year I led the JV team to the Championship title. In the 2019-2020 season I led the Varsity team to an Undefeated Record of 16-0 but the Season was cut short due to the Covid Pandemic.
